Brazil edges Egypt 2-1 in final World Cup warm-up

Brazil closed out its World Cup preparations with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Egypt in an entertaining international friendly at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland. The win gives the five-time World Cup champions momentum as they turn their attention to the tournament opener.

Brazil struck first midway through the opening half when Martinelli found the back of the net, but Egypt responded before halftime through Omar Marmoush to send the sides into the break level at 1-1. The second half remained tightly contested until Endrick delivered the decisive moment, scoring the match-winner early in the half to restore Brazil’s advantage.

Despite Egypt creating several dangerous opportunities, Brazil’s defense held firm over the closing stages to preserve the victory. The match also served as another opportunity for manager Carlo Ancelotti to evaluate his squad, with Brazil controlling long stretches of possession while continuing to build chemistry ahead of the World Cup.

The victory extends Brazil’s positive run of form entering the tournament, while Egypt leaves encouraged by a competitive performance against one of the world’s top sides as it prepares for its own World Cup campaign.
